One of the most versatile and exciting jazz guitarists in the Bay Area, Massanari's solid following attests to his abilty to appeal to a wide variety of audiences. A dedicated artist whose creativity is matched
only by his skill on his instrument, his original compositions have been described as intense and powerful.
Massanari's first album, Dancing on Thin Ice, received rave reviews and earned him recognition as the "Spotlight on New Talent" guitarist in the July 1993 issue of Guitar Player magazine.
Outside of his work with the Ensemble, Massanari frequently performs with the Bay Area's finest vocalists and instrumentalists in a variety of styles, including jazz, blues, rock and Latin while still
making time to lead his own quintet, Hip Flip! (Their first CD, Hip Flip!, features ten original compositions.)
Massanari maintains a busy teaching schedule, working out of his North West Oakland studio, and teaching at San Francisco's Blue Bear Music School. In addition to individual guitar lessons, Massanari teaches
jazz improvisation performance classes and workshops in which his students perform at jazz clubs backed by professional rhythm sections.
Along with his busy musical schedule, Massanari is a serious student of martial arts and was recently awarded his black belt in Kuk Sool Won.
